The 2026 Texas Classic brought another incredible weekend of country/western dance competition, and The Average Nomad was there to record, and publish, 35 hours of it (links below). The Saturday Night Dinner Show was a true highlight of the weekend, featuring some of the top country dancers in the nation, while the ProAm sessions were massively represented, drawing a record number of entrants this year.
Event directors Bernadette Carmichael, Sloane Hansen, and Jenny Nguyen kept the weekend running like clockwork, and full event details are always available on the Texas Classic website.
This year’s event moved to a brand new venue, the Courtyard by Marriott near Lake Pflugerville — just a short drive from Kalahari Indoor Water Park and about 30 minutes from downtown Austin, itself the self-proclaimed “Live Music Capital of the World” and no slouch when it comes to barbecue and Tex-Mex for anyone who carved out time between heats to explore.
Texas Classic’s Invited Celebrity Staff roster brought some of the biggest names in country dance to the ballroom this year, and every professional dancing with a student earned a free weekend pass as part of the event’s ProAm incentive program. As always, competitors were welcome to film their own routines on personal devices free of charge — just don’t forget to tag @thetexasclassic.
